5 Things To Do This Weekend: Watch Anna Karenina and Visit The Cecil Beaton Exhibition

1. Go see... Anna Karenina

Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement) teams up with his favourite period drama muse Keira Knightley, for this big screen adaptation of Tolstoy's classic novel. Set in late 19th century Russia it follows Anna, an artistocratic young woman, who has an epic love affair with the rich Count Vronsky. The film also stars Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and - true to Wright's directorial style - is a thing of cinematic beauty.

2. Visit... Cecil Beaton: Theatre of War

Photographer Cecil Beaton is most famous for his glamourous images of fashion and high society but as this exhibition at the Imperial War Museum shows, he was also one of the most prolific photographers of the Second World War. Showcasing 250 of Beaton's rarely seen wartime photographs - as well as taking in his drawings, books and work in film and music - Theatre of War is a look at the personal impact of WW2 on the legendary photographer.

3. Go see... Lawless

Jessica Chastain, Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Guy Pearce all feature in this star-studded film set in Prohibition-era America. Three brothers running an illegal liquor business run into trouble with some of Virginia's most notorious criminals - so expect lots of guns, gangsters and gore.

4. Listen to... Tulisa's new single

With all the great weather we've been having it looks like we might be in for an Indian Summer. Which is great news for Tulisa, whose latest single is all about that good-time holiday feeling. 'Live It Up' features dancehall beats, party-friendly lyrics and a verse from American rapper Tyga. The single isn't out till Monday, but you can catch the video here.

5. World Event Young Artists

The first year of World Event Young Artists takes place in the city of Nottingham, and showcases the work of 1000 artists from 100 countries in various locations throughout the city. Running until 16 September, there are lots of workshops  and events also on offer: highlights over the weekend include a street dance battle in Old Market Square (Saturday 2pm-5pm) and a participatory workshop on artistic space by artist Richard Hancock (Sunday 2pm-4pm, Waverley Theatre).
