Lions and tigers and bears... Oh my! Oh and a crocodile and a giraffe and a parrot too... Bestival was teaming with all manner of creatures this weekend thanks to the ‘Wildlife’ fancy dress theme.

True to form, Florence + The Machine got into the spirit when she opened the festival on Friday night dressed in a flowing green dress strewn with ivy as she belted out Dog Days Are Over and an amazing cover of Drake’s Take Care.

As did Jessie Ware who took to the stage dressed as a cat, complete with ears and tail on Saturday afternoon, while Rizzle Kicks opted for tiger and raccoon costumes on Sunday.

But by far the highlight of the weekend was Stevie Wonder’s incredible two hour set which closed the festival last night. Performing in a red ensemble underneath a giant owl he played Superstition, I Just Called To Say I Love You, and a blinding cover of Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel while telling the crowd to vote for Barack Obama. After his political interlude, he pulled off a very special finale playing Happy Birthday while fireworks erupted above the stage. Amazing.

Favourite nosh: London’s Meat Liquor restaurant had a pop up van, Meatwagon serving up their delicious burgers. As did burger joint Byron. The Wagamama Lounge was pretty good too.

Best arenas: The Arcadia stage was ruddy brilliant - if a little nuts. Described as a ‘giant mechanical cabaret’ DJs played, huge fire balls shot up around the stage, lasers beamed across the crowd, a man dangled atop a sway pole, while another rode a motorcycle along a wire and a ‘living beast’ of scrap metal wandered about. The Drambuie Cocktail Bar was another favourite -  complete with a small stage in the Magic Meadow, it was the place to have a boogie to your favourite pop tunes.

Best late night act: French electro duo Justice were just the ticket on Saturday night belting out We Are Your Friends and Dance. Orbital were incredible on Sunday too.

Most random moment: Nineties legend Mr Motivator leading a crowd work out on Sunday morning on the main stage to clear away the cobwebs.

To relive all the magical moments from the weekend visit and listen to their Bestival playlists.
