With the Olympics over we were more than a little bit excited about the new series of the X Factor starting tomorrow. For the last nine years, the hit TV show which has bought us the likes of Olly Mus, ABurke and One Direction has basically the only thing that has got us through the winters combining a mix of actual talent and actually mental people - that’s not even mentioning the judges.
But after an initial screening at London’s Corinithia hotel we couldn’t help but feel, dare we say it, a little fatigued. As the second series starts with Tulisa, Gary, Nicole and Louis at the judging helm we can’t help but feel they themselves might be missing that all important X Factor or should we say… Simon Cowell.
However, as the judges minus Gary came on stage for a Q and A they themselves seems unperturbed by the obvious lack of energy surrounding the shows 9th series. Nicole Scherzinger – who was drafted in mid-series after they failed to locate a fourth judge in time was keen to express her happiness at being asked to do the job. Furthermore the former Pussycat Doll admitted that she wanted to be ruthless with the contestants, ‘There's no room for excuses I'm a very hard worker and I expect that from people as well. At the end of the day I know who has it and who doesn't,’ she said.
Tulisa was keen to talk fashion saying that she’ll be rocking a new more streetwise look this year, ‘When it comes to fashion this year I'm going to be a bit more back to my roots mixing up the street vibe with the glam. I'm just finding myself with it.’ In our heads this means she’ll be wearing a ball gown with a cap she got from a market stall in Camden. Maybe this series will be interesting after all.
