Kristen Stewart with Rupert Sanders; and with Robert Pattinson in happier times
She had a fling with married film director Rupert Sanders - but now it seems Kristen Stewart is the one paying the ultimate price for their mutual indiscretion.
Not only has the actress been reportedly ‘dumped’ by Robert Pattinson, her boyfriend of four years, she’s also rumoured to have been dropped from the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman.
It was on the set of the film that she met Rupert – who is married to Liberty Ross and has two young children. But while there have been a handful of headlines about his infidelity, the focus of the outrage has been on K-Stew.
Er, why? It takes two to have an affair. And it could be argued as the older, MARRIED one, Rupert is more accountable. So why should Kristen be the one to suffer professionally… and be universally slammed by commentators? Clue (if you hadn’t guessed already): she’s a woman.
And it’s all so depressingly predictable... Angelina Jolie was depicted as the scarlet woman for getting together with Brad Pitt. Even though he was the one married to Jennifer Aniston. And guess what – he’s still Hollywood’s golden boy.
Leann Rimes, meanwhile, was seen as the homewrecker when she had an affair with Eddie Cibrian. Both were married at the time… but again it was Leanne who was roundly castigated for their infidelity.
Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman
We’re not for a moment defending K-Stew and Rupert’s affair. But we ARE asking why the Twilight actress is the one being so publicly punished. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal are said to have devised a spin-off film where the focus will be on Chris Hemsworth. If K-Stew does have a role, it's rumoured she certainly won’t be the lead. A Universal spokeswoman said, 'The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise.'
Surely it’s time to remember there was someone else in those photos… and he had a hell of a lot more to lose than Kristen.
