He deflected questions from host Jon Stewart, made adorable jokes about wearing Spanx and even rallied Twilight fans to watch his new movie; it’s fair to say Robert Pattinson has come out of his Daily Show interview (and first public appearance, in fact) following THAT Kristen Stewart scandal looking like Mr Nice Guy.
While laughing and joking about the awkwardness of the situation and the crowd of Twihards and paps outside the studio, the actor remained silent about the recent cheating snaps that rocked Hollywood. He did mention the fact that he hasn't got a publicist, but that now would be a good time to hire one. D'ya think!
Jon was keen to bring talk back round to his situation with K-Stew, declaring 'When you are young and you break-up, it feels like the world is ending but this is the first time I have actually seen the world react that way. It's insanity!’. But Rob refused to be drawn into a discussion of his love life, instead promoting the his latest film, Cosmopolis.
However, now that potential interviewers have seen how calm and amiable Rob is, will they try and push his buttons in order to get an exclusive quote about Kristen? He’s also scheduled to give a live interview to ABC’s Good Morning America tomorrow and a 30-minute online chat with MTV News on Thursday morning. Fingers crossed the actor keeps his cool, especially considering the promotional tour for the final installment of the vampire series is just around the corner – if he takes part...
Other A-listers haven’t fared as well when it comes to dodging and diving hazardous interview situations. In fact as you’ll see in the videos below sometimes things get so heated that stars walk off in order to avoid the line of fire. From Chris Brown to Paris Hilton, who do you think is the worst interviewee?
Chris Brown on Good Morning America
It's fair to say that Chris Brown didn't enjoy answering questions about Rihanna's newly lifted restraining order against him on GMA and he became increasingly uncomfortable as he tried to promote his new album. Following the interview Brown reportedly stormed off set and smashed a window in his dressing room before leaving the studio.
Paris Hilton on ABC News
You'd have thought the hotel heiress would have been pretty comfortable in her own home, but Miss Hilton didn't like it when reporter Dan Harris asked: 'Do you worry at times that the people who have followed in your footsteps — like Kim Kardashian — are overshadowing you?' Apparently for Paris her former friend Kim is a sore subject and she laughed before getting up from her seat and walking off camera.
Russell Crowe on BBC Radio 4
The New Zealand-born actor walked off of a chat with presenter Mark Lawson when the interviewer suggested his accent in the roll of Robin Hood sounded a little Irish.
Naomi Campbell on ABC News
The supermodel was left fuming when an interviewer asked her if she had received a 'blood diamond' from African dictator Charles Taylor. Naomi replied, 'I didn't receive a diamond and I'm not going to speak about that' before walking away and knocking the camera in the producer's hands when pressed for details.
Robert Pattinson on Ryan Seacrest
That's right; your eyes do not deceive. He may have managed to remain level headed in yesterday's interview with John Stewart, but when he attended the LA premiere of New Moon Rob refused to answer a question from US presenter Ryan Seacrest about his relationship with co-star Kristen. To be fair Rob retained his nice guy image and smiled throughout the process of ignoring the question, so really what we're saying is he's pretty much perfect and he likes to keep his private life what it is. Private!
