If you want something doing properly, leave it to the girls… or more specifically, rowers Heather Stanning and Helen Glover.
This morning, the women’s pair won Team GB’s first gold of the 2012 Olympics. Cue MASSIVE cheers in the Grazia offices! And we trust you were screaming at the TV along with the rest of the country. (And if you weren’t, pleaaaaaaaaaase tune in to the highlights. Trust us, you don’t want to miss it).
Their win is a huge achievement… even more so because Helen and Heather won so convincingly, with a three second gap.
‘I’m absolutely shattered and want to collapse but I also just want to jump up and down’, said Heather, 27, moments after they crossed the line.
A captain in the Royal Artillery, she’s only been paired with Helen, 26, – a former PE teacher - since 2009.
‘If I can do it so can you’, said Helen. ‘Take the chance to do something, do anything. Work hard and do your best and you can achieve anything.’
To the boats, ladies!
