It’s been 20-odd years since Kylie Minogue last stretched her acting legs. Well, she has been busy taking over the world’s pop music scene, after all.
But now it seems that the Pop Princess is heading back to her screen-roots, with an edgy role in steamy horror film, Jack & Diane.
The film is about Jack (Riley Keough) and Diane (Juno Temple), two teenage girls who meet in New York and embark on a passionate affair. Where Diane is sweet, good-natured and slightly naïve, Jack is much tougher and volatile. She is visibly upset when Diana reveals her English mother is making her move to France and we also see her being run over by a car on the streets of New York.
Kylie plays Tara; tattooed, tousled and sexy. In the trailer, we briefly see her walking sultrily over to Jack, asking her; ‘Why did you come here tonight’ before Jack leans in for a kiss whispering; ‘I don’t know.’
Brit actress Juno Temple, 23, is most famous for St Trinians and this summer’s Matthew McConaughey-led thriller Killer Joe, and is appearing in Lovelace with Amanda Seyfried and Malificent with Angelina Jolie, both next year.
Riley, meanwhile, is the actress granddaughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Her mother was Lisa Marie Presley. Riley currently appears in Magic Mike, where she met co-star and rumoured fiancé, Alex Pettyfer, and has recently signed up to the action blockbuster, Mad Max, with Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Kylie is enjoying the success of club hit, Time Bomb. As the video – and this trailer shows – she’s certainly still got it.
