Emma Watson To Star In 50 Shades Film? What Would Dumbledore Say?!

Emma Watson To Star In 50 Shades Film? What Would Dumbledore Say?!

It’s been over a year since the last Harry Potter film was released, but like most people, we’re still struggling to see the young stars of the franchise as anything other than their on-screen personas. So, when the internet started spluttering that Emma ‘Hermione’ Watson is being considered for a super-steamy role in the upcoming film version of erotic-novel Fifty Shades of Grey, the Grazia office let out a collective, “ICK.”

If the rumours are to be believed, the film’s producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti are considering Emma for the role of Anastasia Steele, the inexperienced college student whose saucy entanglement with a billionaire introduces her to the world of bondage and S&M.

Luckily, it wasn’t just us who felt perturbed by this rumour; this afternoon saw Twitter struggling under the weight of creeped-out Harry Potter fans.

☆ Twitter reacts ☆

“Apparently Emma Watson is the front runner to play Anastasia in 50 Shades of Grey... #pleaseNo #ruinedChildhood if that happens :(” @emmadaviex

“If Emma Watson is cast as Ana in 50 Shades of Grey it would ruin Harry Potter for me forever. Please no.” @_laurenmack

“Apparently Hermione Granger will star in 50 shades of Grey. I can't explain how upset I am with her.” @LifeofPhen

“No no no, I don't want to see hermione granger having sexy time in the 50 shades of grey film.” @_pyr4mids

Grazia reacts

But who should play what looks set to be next year’s most coveted role? The Grazia office gave their verdicts…

Louisa Pritchard, news features editor: Emma Watson is so WRONG. I’ll be forever waiting for Ron Weasley to show up and rescue her from the Red Room of Pain. I think someone like Dakota Fanning would be good

Jo Oliver, editorial assistant: I’d like to see Mila Kunis as Ana, she’d be really good at the sex scenes. Have you seen Friends With Benefits?

Jess Commons, writer: Emma Watson will never be Ana, she’ll always be Hermione. I’d prefer someone like Emma Roberts

Hattie Brett, assistant editor: Definitely not Emma Watson, she’s too innocent. I’d like it to be Evan Rachel Wood. She’s so louche in True Blood.

Danielle O’Connell, managing editor: Emma Watson’s too clean and nice. It should be someone tall, pale and dark-like Kristen Stewart.

Marianne Jones, deputy editor: I would love it to be Gemma from TOWIE. That would be properly brilliant!

So what are you views? Will Emma Watson ever escape the curse of Hermione? And who do you think should play Ana?

Jillian Walicki (Thu Jul 26 17:30:05 BST 2012): Hello does anyone remember that ana has big blue eyes not brown
Chantal TJ (Thu Jul 26 17:31:23 BST 2012): Lol yep!!
Caren Anne (Thu Jul 26 18:37:39 BST 2012): Emilia Clarke. She's Kaleesi in Game of Thrones, but I'm almost positive she's a natural brunette. She'd be good for the part!
Alexis Folta (Thu Jul 26 18:45:26 BST 2012): I think Ian somerhalder should be christian and Alexis Bledel should be Ana.
Teresa Hritz-Stephenson (Thu Jul 26 23:54:24 BST 2012): I have big blue eyes. Of course if I was it it, George Clooney would be Christian . We'd have to name it 50 shades of GRAY. LOL
Joanna Tanswell (Mon Jul 30 02:01:27 BST 2012): I quite like Ian Somerhalder for Christian and Jennifer Lawrence for Ana. I don't think that Emma Watson is a bad choice, the whole idea of Ana is she has that innocence. Don't think I would watch it if it had Kristen Stewart or Rob Pattinson in it.
Javed Hussain (Wed Aug 15 07:12:31 BST 2012): Good
Sue Heath (Tue Sep 18 13:40:18 BST 2012): There's no way - she has far too much sense for a start. I also don't believe for one second that this third rate book will ever make it to the big screen - there's simply no story which may actually be a problem for movie goers. This is just more PR to generate more sales of the book. I've read the first one - it was garbage so I won't be bothering with book 2 or 3. Hype hype hype.
Mirra Lanshina (Mon Oct 01 20:24:01 BST 2012): Yes, Dumbledore will love.
Becky Hunter (Sat Oct 27 03:27:42 BST 2012): I think that Matt Bomer from White Collar would be a perfect Christian Grey. For Anastasia, I think Mila Kunis would be good.
Blaine Thornton (Sun Oct 28 00:31:37 BST 2012): Dumbledore is gay.
Samantha Miranda (Thu Jan 10 22:28:55 GMT 2013): Stick Kristen Stewart in it. 50 Shades was originally a Twilight fanfic anyway.
Paul Cassidy (Thu Jan 10 22:36:55 GMT 2013): Poor Ron...
Samantha Miranda (Thu Jan 10 23:31:04 GMT 2013): LOL I honestly can't see the Harry Potter actors as anyone but.
