It’s been over a year since the last Harry Potter film was released, but like most people, we’re still struggling to see the young stars of the franchise as anything other than their on-screen personas. So, when the internet started spluttering that Emma ‘Hermione’ Watson is being considered for a super-steamy role in the upcoming film version of erotic-novel Fifty Shades of Grey, the Grazia office let out a collective, “ICK.”
If the rumours are to be believed, the film’s producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti are considering Emma for the role of Anastasia Steele, the inexperienced college student whose saucy entanglement with a billionaire introduces her to the world of bondage and S&M.
Luckily, it wasn’t just us who felt perturbed by this rumour; this afternoon saw Twitter struggling under the weight of creeped-out Harry Potter fans.

“If Emma Watson is cast as Ana in 50 Shades of Grey it would ruin Harry Potter for me forever. Please no.” @_laurenmack
“Apparently Hermione Granger will star in 50 shades of Grey. I can't explain how upset I am with her.” @LifeofPhen
“No no no, I don't want to see hermione granger having sexy time in the 50 shades of grey film.” @_pyr4mids

But who should play what looks set to be next year’s most coveted role? The Grazia office gave their verdicts…
Louisa Pritchard, news features editor: Emma Watson is so WRONG. I’ll be forever waiting for Ron Weasley to show up and rescue her from the Red Room of Pain. I think someone like Dakota Fanning would be good
Jo Oliver, editorial assistant: I’d like to see Mila Kunis as Ana, she’d be really good at the sex scenes. Have you seen Friends With Benefits?
Jess Commons, writer: Emma Watson will never be Ana, she’ll always be Hermione. I’d prefer someone like Emma Roberts
Hattie Brett, assistant editor: Definitely not Emma Watson, she’s too innocent. I’d like it to be Evan Rachel Wood. She’s so louche in True Blood.
Danielle O’Connell, managing editor: Emma Watson’s too clean and nice. It should be someone tall, pale and dark-like Kristen Stewart.
Marianne Jones, deputy editor: I would love it to be Gemma from TOWIE. That would be properly brilliant!
So what are you views? Will Emma Watson ever escape the curse of Hermione? And who do you think should play Ana?
