Bradley Wiggins Tweets Response To Stella McCartney's Team GB Kit For The Olympics 2012: What's Your Verdict?

Less than a week after winning the Tour de France, Bradley Wiggins is stepping into Spandex once again, this time to try on his Team GB kit designed by Stella McCartney.

The cyclist who has been named a British sporting hero since winning the prestigious tournament last Sunday sent Twittersphere into a frenzy yesterday when he delivered his response to the designs, tweeting “Just arrived at the Olympics, got all me kit, still think Stella was a bit Lucy in the Sky when she knocked this one up”. He clarified that he wasn’t making a dig at McCartney’s skills as a sportswear designer when he added a few seconds later “In a good way, certainly gonna stand out”.

Stella previously defended critics who charged her with leaving red out of the Team GB designs and focusing too much on blue tones. She tweeted to her followers:  "I see many feel as strongly about the Union flag as I do! The design actually uses more red & shows more flag than any Team GB kit since '84". So there!

That didn’t stop the stylish designer worrying about people confusing her own Team GB kit with the athletes’ opening and closing ceremony outfits which have been designed by high street retail giant Next. She told FT columnist Valerie Friedman “I’m terrified people will think it’s me”.

What do you  make of Stella’s Team GB kit? Do you think another designer could have done a better job? Comment below or tweet us @grazia_live.
