Gangster Squad poster
Out of all our favourite on-screen couples of last year, Ryan “The Goz” Gosling and Emma “Girl Crush” Stone from Crazy Stupid Love were right up there. So sweet, so funny, so hot!
Good news! The cute-some co-stars are reunited in Gangster Squad on 7th September in the US, 9th November over here, and the film’s cool, film noir style poster has just been released. As you can see, there are a host of other Hollywood heavyweights in it, including Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Giovanni Ribisi (or ‘Mr Agyness Dean’, as we now call him).
Set in 1940’s LA, mob leader Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) is on the hunt from Los Angeles Police Department, headed up by John O’Mara (Josh Brolin). He enlists the help of young, hungry officers to bring down the corrupt mafia ring, namely Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), and dubs the group Gangster Squad.
In typical gangster-movie style (Scarface, anyone?) Jerry falls for the mafia boss’s moll, in this case Emma Stone. Uh-oh…

The film is based on a true story, as Mickey Cohen was one of the most notorious gangsters of that era. Slick, stylish and sexy, this film looks all sorts of awesome and Grazia can’t WAIT - we are already transfixed by the trailer (see below).
‘Sean wanted to really make him his own,’ the film’s director Ruben Fleischer told Entertainment Weekly. ‘So he took pieces of the real Mickey that he connected with and then also filled in his own ideas of who the guy is. It’s not like an impression of Mickey Cohen but more a realisation of him.’

Whatever he did, it’s working.
