VV Brown at Just My Cup Of Tea on Sunday

If there’s one girl who knows good style, it’s VV Brown. We caught up with the British singer over iced tea and cake (how very English) at Just My Cup of Tea last weekend, an gorgeous clothes-swapping and styling tea party.

Who better than VV Brown to front the event? She loves vintage fashion so much she decided to open up her own online store, VVVinatge.com. ‘Partly because I had collected so many clothes I physically couldn’t fit them in my house anymore,’ she tells Grazia. ‘So, I figured I should try to sell them!’

‘We’ve got clothes from all over the world and work with graduates from Central St Martins who get recycled clothes from Oxfam and ‘upcycle’ them.

Here, VV shares her ultimate style tips:

Don’t think, just do

‘I’m really into the clashing trend right now, the more clashing the better - Black and white harem pants at the bottom with a neon t-shirt looks great. Don’t overthink it clashing as you’ll play it too safe.’

Let loose

‘I don’t like any clothing too tight. Bodycon dressed look beautiful on some women but are too girly for me, I like to be comfortable! I’m obsessed with oversized shirts and baggy trousers, the looser the better than pair with a chunky gold chain necklace and killer heels. Hot!’

Embrace vintage! But be patient

‘The great thing about vintage fashion is it’s unusual and unique but it’s also unreliable because everything is one of a kind. So, if you’re shopping because you desperately need a dress for that night, don’t rely on vintage as you’re not guaranteed to find something in your size and price range. Take an iPhone so you can Google prices and check you’re not being ripped off.’

Pick up a piece of clothing from your travels

‘Every country I’ve been to I’ve come home with at least one item of clothing. A kimono from Tokyo, black evening gown from Paris and this metallic blue vintage dress is from Texas. America is the best for vintage.’

Look to the past for inspiration

‘Experiment with different trends, don’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. My style has changed a lot and generally mirrors on era. I used to be very colourful and 1950s-inspired now I’m in love with 80s and 90s – shoulder pads, Aztec prints, graphic shapes.’

There you have it, ladies, happy shopping!
