Last time we saw Claire Danes in Homeland, at the end of series one, things weren’t looking too rosy for her. So in the first pictures of her on-set of the next series, we’re happy to see she has a humungous smile on her face.
She’s joined by new co-star, Rupert Friend who looks equally pleased with himself - though landing a part in one of the biggest series on TV probably has that effect on you. It was announced last week that the British actor – and ex of Keira Knightley – will be joining as a regular character, playing CIA agent Peter Quinn. Any further details are being kept top secret, but after Carrie’s affair with Sergeant Brody ended in disaster, we're secretly hoping he might be her new love interest. After all, Ms Danes does love a Brit boy – she’s been married to Hugh Dancy since 2009.
But Homeland’s executive producer Alex Gansa has insisted Brody will still play a big part in Carrie’s life. ‘The centre of season two will be the same as the centre of season one and that is the Carrie-Brody relationship,’ he said recently. He’s also suggested that the story might be set a few years in the future, too. ‘By jumping some time, we’re going to be able to put our characters in different places than they have been this season….both [Carrie and Brody] will be in very different places than they are now.'
It airs in the US in September, although no date has been set yet for the UK. Noooooooooooooo! Of course, there is another explanation for Claire Danes’ massive grin – someone’s kindly embroidered her initials on her bag. Cute.
