Would you consider Bridalplasty?

04 February 2011

It’s a tradition almost set in stone that blushing-brides-to-be prepare for their big day by slashing the calories, hitting the gym and generally preening themselves to within an inch of their perfectly-manicured lives. But not for Allyson Donovan, the newly-crowned winner of American reality TV show ‘Bridalplasty’, who eschewed pre-matrimonial tradition by overhauling her body with a mammoth-load of extreme plastic surgery.

The unemployed mother-of-one saw off hordes of prospective brides on the E! show to bag the ultimate prize: surgery on her arms, chin, jowls, hips and breasts and a mouthful of shiny new veneers before careering down the aisle to greet her long-time love John for a ‘fairytale’ wedding paid for by the show.

The controversial ‘Bridalplasty’ - hosted by Shanna Moakler - pits 12 brides-to-be against one another in bridal-themed challenges as they compete to win head-to-toe surgery and a dream wedding scenario for them and their beau.

When asked why she took part in the show Donovan said “I just wanted what a lot of women that are in their 30s that have had children want: to lose the baby weight, get rid of the belly pouch, erase wrinkles and have boobs that don't sag down to your belly button. And I was given the chance to compete for it for free. Come on! Does anyone know how much veneers cost?”

Does the woman have a point? Would you consider pre-wedding plastic surgery or do you think this is just a step too far? As usual, we want to hear your thoughts below.
