British women spend £3.5billion on Christmas outfits!

30 November 2010

All we want for Christmas is… Well a hell of a lot if a new survey is to be believed! It may (or may not) shock you to hear that after totting up last Crimbo’s party payout, the grand total for how much British women spent on outfits last December came to… £3.5billion. Umm, what recession? And we’re expected to match it – and then some – this year.

And the buck doesn’t stop there… The average woman will also spend £206.84 on hair and beauty treatments. And one in five women will buy a new outfit, costing on average £76.50, for every event they attend – with the majority of women getting two festive invites.

However there is a flip side. Over forty percent of credit crunched partygoers admit to rescuing a dress from the depths of their laundry basket, giving it a quick perfume splitz, then wearing it two nights running. Is that such a crime?

We want to open the poll to you, Grazia Daily-ites. How many invitations have you received so far and have you got your style strategy figured out? Or do you think the spenders are deluded blowing all this money for one night only?
