PETA really isn’t happy with Posh right now. Not for wearing fur (VB is very anti) but her new line of handbags made of lizard skin.
Indeed there were rumours that PETA were planning to blood-bomb the designer.
‘One of the ideas being mooted is that Victoria gets covered in a bucket of animal blood - cow or lizard - at her next UK public appearance,’ a source told Perez Hilton.
However in the end they opted for subtler methods and sent her an educational video instead (it was strongly worded).
A rep for VB responded by arguing that yes the bags are made from reptile skin… but very well made.
‘The handbags are made to the highest quality and design. These skins sit strictly within the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) regulations, and are monitored at every step of production. The skins are farmed in America under very tight guidelines.’
Do you think that makes it alright then?
And is one animal product more justifiable then the next? For instance: are you anti fur but carry a lizard skin bag? Double standards or incomparable?
