There’s nothing more frustrating than endlessly trying on bikinis – especially when your reflection in the shop changing room looks nothing like the picture of the model wearing the same one.
But then, it’s impossible to live up to an airbrushed model with a digitally-enhanced bust, photoshop-smooth thighs and a cartoonishly small waist.
So we love the fact that Debenhams have launched an airbrush-free swimwear campaign in store today. The gorgeous bikini model’s photograph is displayed alongside a digitally retouched version and when you see the two next to each other, it’s striking how gorgeous the true image is. She’s got bigger thighs, a wider waist, smaller bust and a not-too-perfect tan, and maybe it’s those supposed flaws that make her beautiful.
Obviously this woman is a bikini model so she’s got a certain advantage over the rest of us, but seeing this campaign might make less critical of our own bodies.
What do you think: would you rather see an ‘inspiring’ body that not even a professional model can achieve, or the female form as it really is, flesh and all? [fashionista]
