Rumours have been circling since the semi-finals, as to who Si-Co would recruit to duet with the finalists. And let’s not underestimate how crucial this decision is… It’s a make-or-break moment for the final contestants, when the sparkly curtain parts and their star guest bounds on stage.
Just look at last year - who else stood a chance, when diva-in-training Alex joined forces with Beyonce. As if Westlife and Boyzone could ever compete. Sure, Alex was ten times more talented then the others, but as we’ve seen with Jedwardmania and Danyl’s shock departure, that means diddlysquat to the public. Still, get a multimillion-dollar popstar on board, clutch onto her hand and squeeze out some tears, and victory is yours.
So, it’s with much excitement, that we can reveal this years VIPS’s (drum roll please).
Well, it’s the world’s worst kept secret that Robbie Williams is with Olly – that news was leaked earlier this week. However, did you guess Stacey’s partner, Michael Buble? Or George Michael for Joe?
‘That is a big deal for these contestants and I think the duet will be a very significant part of the competition,’ said Simon, ‘Beyonce last year was a huge part of why Alexandra [Burke] won, so I think these duets are becoming increasingly important now... and there'll be a few surprises on Sunday.’
Three questions spring to mind… How will Olly and Robbie’s huge egos both fit on stage together? Is there enough leather in the world to clad both George and Joe. And, what on earth will a Canadian combined with Dagenham accent sound like?
