Is Heidi's post-pregnancy body ready to walk the VS catwalk?

Heidi Klum

‘Latex outfit’ – a phrase to strike fear into any slightly-curvier-then-average girl. Unforgiving? That doesn’t even begin to cover it. Even the modelesque Rihanna and Lady Gaga have to suck their barely-there tummies in to pull off  cling-to-every-ounce-of-flesh material.

So Heidi Klum is one brave woman. Just five weeks after giving birth, the mother-of-four has risen to the Victoria’s Secret challenge and will tonight wear a latex get-up for their yearly fashion show.

‘I embrace that I have more curves right now,’ said Heidi, ‘I'm definitely one of the heaviest of the bunch of 30 girls in the show. But why not? I like my outfit. I like the way it looks on me.’

Apart from the fact we think the Victoria’s Secret stylist is downright mean to dress a post-pregnancy model in rubber, it’s refreshing to hear a model who still loves her body, even when she’s on the heavier-side (although her idea of ‘heavy’ is us, on a skinny-day, after a nasty bout of dysentery). She looks pretty damn perfect to us… but then it is her job we suppose, to be flaw-less. And, after twelve years modelling for Victoria Secret, Heidi’s a pro – she previously walked the VS catwalk four months pregnant with her first child, and two months after giving birth to her third.

‘Heidi is superwoman,’ said Victoria’s Secret president Ed Razek. ‘Victoria’s Secret is thrilled to have her back. There is no one like her.’

Still, Heidi has the same insecurities as most new mums. She turned down the chance to model on the catwalk, because she feared her body wouldn’t be ‘ready’. In the last trimester of her pregnancy she described her body as ‘huge'. ‘The thighs, the butt - everything explodes in the end,’ she said. ‘I still have 20lbs to go. You definitely have less pressure hosting, when you don't shake your booty in front of millions of people around the world.’

However, Heidi won’t be modelling the show-closing diamond bra this year – a $3million push-up covered in a mixture of white, champagne and cognac coloured diamonds. That honour goes to new Angel, Marissa Miller.

And, don’t worry, as soon as we have pics of Heidi’s latex outfit, you’ll be the first to know…
