X Factor reviewed!

Cheryl cole

Credit where credit's due, Cheryl’s X Factor performance wasn’t half bad. Yes, her outfit was hideous (second rate Janet Jackson) and she had a little help on the chorus, singing along to a backing track, but all in all, it was quite entertaining.

Then again Simon Cowell was never going to let his protégé fail. The man with the Midas touch knows how to manufacture a show-stopping performance.

First, recruit an army of backing dancers (to distract from any dud notes), fill the audience with A-list supporters (in this case Girls Aloud members, plus her hubbie Ashley), and flash just the right amount of flesh (after she criticised ex-strippers Kandy Rain last week, for dressing too provocatively, Cheryl’s stylist had to tread carefully). 'That was incredible,' said Simon, 'I will take you in my category any day. You’re going to be number one next week.'

Whitney Houston

Unfortunately Whitney Houston’s performance of her single Million Dollar Bill was a little less slick (although the singer was hardly to blame for her wardrobe malfunction). But, if the X Factor message board was anything to go by, fans were less then impressed.

'What a huge waste of her talent,' wrote one viewer, 'People should watch and learn what harm one can do to oneself. I hope for Whitney and all her fans she gets a grip and rejoins this planet.' Another message read, 'Not sure what was going on with Whitney, what a huge let down.'

X Factor

In other news, Rikki Loney was cast out of the show, losing out to Rachel Adedeji in the live head-to-head. A result which pales into insignificance really… With so much else to gossip about, does anyone care who wins this year?
