Every week in Grazia, Mary Portas listens to one reader's life dilemma and gives her honest, straight-talking advice. Today, it's your turn to help out Grazia reader Lisa. She's never had a permanent job and is now worried her CV looks full of holes. What would you do in her shoes? Should she keep on plugging until she gets a job in the area she wants? Or, at 31, is it time she stopped being a work commitmentphobe and got a permanent position?
'Is it time to give up on my dream job - and get real?'
I've been trying to kick start my career in event organising for years, but am still struggling to get a break. In the nine years since I left university, I've done everything including temporary admin jobs and bar tending to pay the bills and always taken the chance to do any kind of event organising that comes up. But while I've had great feedback and got temporary contracts, I just can't seem to take that next step to getting a full-time job. Please help!
Lisa, 31, London
