Credit crunch hits the A-list!

More evidence that the credit crunch has taken its tolls on A-listers as well as the Average Joe. Amy Winehouse has lost £5 million in the last year and Robbie Williams is down £25 million. Meanwhile, Joan Collins now shops at Primark (apparently she can no longer afford a couture wardrobe) and Nicolas Cage, who commands £10 million a film, is selling off his property portfolio (which includes a £3.5 million Somerset castle), because he owes millions in unpaid income tax (suddenly, our overdraft doesn’t seem so bad).

Nicolas isn’t the only star with unpaid bills – Pamela Anderson reportedly owes £690,000 to the tax office, as well as £157,000 to a building firm working on her new Malibu mansion (including £110,000 for a home sound system and thousands on ‘gold pool tiles’). Perhaps that explains why she donned her Baywatch suit on the catwalk last night for A*MUSE, her clothing line with designer Richie Rich. It was recently revealed the former Playboy centrefold is living in a one-bedroom trailer (although don’t feel too sorry for her, she still lives in Paradise Cove, flanked by A-list neighbours, where trailers go for between £200,000 and £750,000).

'I am now in the process of ensuring any taxes owed are paid,' she said. 'However, I'm financially secure and I want to thank everyone who expressed concern for me based on these rumours.'

The 42-year-old's outstanding bills may explain her latest career move. A Baywatch reunion? A Hollywood blockbuster? A 13th Playboy cover perhaps? No. The 42-year-old will appear in panto – as the genie in Aladdin, at the New Wimbledon theatre (hardly Broadway, is it?).

But it’s unlikely to be the answer to Pammie’s money worries, as she’ll be paid a flat rate of £375 a day. Not quite the £1 million Hugh Hefner offered her, last year, to pose naked with close friend Denise Richards (they turned him down). Regretting that decision now, Pammie? We wonder if she’ll bring out that red swimsuit again?
