Keira Knightley treads the boards!

Making that move from the silver screen to the stage seems to be the transition all A-list actresses have on their lists of things to do. Ever since Nicole Kidman made her 1998 theatre debut in The Blue Room (sending seat sales skyrocketing with a brief flash of her derrière, oh là là), treading the boards has become the sure-fire way to cement a tad more prestige into your acting career. Julia Roberts appeared on Broadway in 1996, Jessica Biel did a three-day run in Guys and Dolls in LA in August, Sienna Miller’s currently on Broadway in After Miss Julie, and now Keira Knightly has joined the cast list. Miss Knightley is set to make her theatre debut in a modern version of Molière’s The Misanthrope in December alongside the dashing Damian Lewis, where she will be playing an American socialite and film actress. Keira has admitted in the past that she gets stage fright at the idea of acting in the theatre: 'I can't quite handle the idea of "Screen Actress in Big West End Hit" and all that. I would prefer to do something smaller.' Break a leg KK! The Misanthrope opens at London’s Comedy Theatre on 17 December.
