There’s nothing more terrifying, after breaking up with a boyfriend, than bumping into his mother in the supermarket, having to make polite (awkward) conversation when you just KNOW she’s thinking, 'He was far too good for you, young lady.' (cringe).
So spare a thought for Jessica Biel who, in the wake of her and Justin’s (alleged) break-up, has been criticised by her ex’s number one fan… his grandmother.
While Justin, 27, and Jessica, 26 – who began dating in 2006 – maintained a dignified silence amid rumours of their split, Sadie Bomar has had no qualms about speaking out in defence of her grandson.
'Jessica was keen to marry,' she said, 'but Justin isn't ready. He's busy writing new material. He works hard to be successful – he's really focused on that.'
As if that wasn’t bad enough, she added, 'As far as we're concerned, he's always been single. Girlfriends come and go, but we believe nothing has ever been serious.' (Ouch, that’s got to hurt, Jess).
This is the closest we’ve come to concrete evidence that ‘Jestin’s’ relationship is definitely over. After a rocky year, Justin was said to have called time on it in August (and has since been linked to a number of possible next-girlfriends, including Rihanna and a mystery brunette he took home in a taxi from West Hollywood’s Crown bar). However, he and Jessica were also spotted walking hand-in-hand in California last week. So are they on or are they off?
Friends of the couple say they have not split up, they just spent less time together over the summer because of work commitments (he was in Europe promoting his Givenchy aftershave; she was in LA starring in Guys And Dolls).
So, do you really believe JT is back on the market? And if he is, what will it take to tame the 27-year-old commitment-phobe? Because (let's face it), if Britney and Cameron couldn’t do it, who can?
