Since Patrick Swayze died of cancer on Monday we’ve had the opening bars of Time of My Life ringing in our ears. We’ve re-watched Dirty Dancing (plus Ghost and Point Break), recited the lines and sung along to the soundtrack. But nothing as imaginative as these newlyweds, who took advantage of their Big Day by paying the ultimate tribute.
These are the originators as far as we know (we totally want to be her). James and Julia posted the clips on YouTube for their wedding guests to enjoy little knowing it would become an internet phenomenon, seen by 2.6million people … and
Oprah, who invited them on her show and had a surprise in store (watch the finale – you have to see it to believe it). Since then, other couples have followed in the newlyweds finely-choreographed footsteps. Here’s a few of our favourites.
This one is very professional. Though we're deducting points for getting help with the lift (come on hubbie, give it some muscle)
Who says these poor grooms are railroaded into it? Check out this twinkle-toed ‘Johnny’ who’s clearly in his element. And bonus points for guest participation.
Who needs a bride when you’ve got four mates willing to make fools of themselves? Certainly a creative compilation.
Alright, we’ve swayed off our brief and this isn’t in fact a wedding video, but Paddy and Keith’s spoof for Comic Relief is priceless (and we couldn’t resist).
