As we’re sure you’re well aware, as we may have mentioned it once or twice, New York Fashion Week is upon us. This, of course, means that we are supposed to be planning our summer outfits for next year already – a hard prospect seeing as we’re trying to hold on to every hope that this summer isn’t actually over yet, with this year’s floral dresses yet to be retired to the back of the wardrobe (there might be one last heatwave – you never know…). But anyway, as you ponder the earth-shattering decision of which shade of pastel chiffon to invest in for next year, let’s celebrate New York Fashion Week with a selection of some of our fave fashwan ads from way back when, in this week’s very fashionable Boredom Buster. Enjoy!
Before Beyoncé had megastar status and Lady Gaga was neither seen nor heard (those were the days), the late, great Aaliyah was music’s golden girl. Check her out in her Tommy Jeans debut. We’ll even forgive her for that R Kelly marriage. Just.
If ever you needed proof that rich, famous men get women way out of their league, click here.
The ever-glamorous Penélope Cruz is doing what she does best – looking gorgeous and making us highly jealous – in this Ralph Lauren perfume video.
Next, we travel all the way back to 1993, a time when Kate Moss was once (operative word there) a fresh-faced 19-year-old looking all whimsical and waif-like for Calvin Klein.
Going even further, to 1980, check out an extremely young Brooke Shields, 15 to be exact, writhing around provocatively in her Calvins. Unsurprisingly, this video caused massive controversy, but don’t forget an even younger Brooke appeared in naked love scenes in the movie The Blue Lagoon. Not a shy one then.
