Poor old Margaret. Not only are we reeling from the shocking news that she won't be doing the next Apprentice (she's falling behind with her studies apparently), but the self-confessed chocoholic's last task was to suffer Yasmina's ‘unusual' Coco Electric concoctions. ‘One's enough,' she said curtly after sampling a strawberry and basil flavoured chocolate. Indeed. As Suralan explained in a nutshell, ‘They weren't shocking chocolates, they were shocking chocolates.' But despite this, after 12 weeks of boardroom bitchery, Yasmina Siadatan is now the new Apprentice. Kate Walsh's Choc D'Amour may have tasted ‘wonderful' but it was her price point – £13 over Yasmina's thrifty £6 – let her down. But as Suralan ummed and ahhed, banged on about his ‘instinct', and then pointed that ‘You're hired' finger at Yasmina, was she really the surprise choice over Competent Kate? And what did Yasmina do that was better? A quick straw poll round the Grazia office and here are our theories....
a) She put Pants Man firmly in his place (well, someone had to). When Philip tried to dissuade Yasmina to stick with their original men-only chocolate idea - ‘It's the same with Pants Man - people didn't get it at the time, but they will eventually' - she dismissed him with a short ‘That was a rubbish idea Philip.'
b) We loved her honesty – ‘My presentation style is pretty s***,' she said, clearly a bag of nerves, before wowing the crowd with an flawless speech.
c) She cleverly let Pants Man have his turn in the limelight by letting him choreograph the dancers (how they kept a straight face in that dance studio is anyone's guess).
d) She didn't let Lorraine use her instinct. Not once. That alone surely won her the task.
So, do you agree with us? Do you think Suralan made the right choice? And more importantly, who do you think could be the next Margaret? Current Grazia favourites include Anne Widdecombe, Janet Street-Porter, Esther Rantzen or Mary Portas.... Let us know below!
