Sarah's fashion moment

 default

Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain have set the bar high for first-lady-fashion, but Sarah Brown's surprise appearance on the podium at the Labour Party Conference last night was a style moment to eclipse anything happening this week in Milan. Well, almost. She's clearly been visited by the same fashion fairy who banished ‘pantsuits' from the wardrobe of her US counterparts, striding onto the podium in a slinky black pencil skirt, chic grey top and patent heels to rapturous applause. Then she added the perfect accessory to this demure-yet-businesslike ensemble: a heartfelt speech about her husband's worth as PM. Sarah's appearance surprised no-one more than the PM, and he bounded onstage with the sort of grinning confidence Barack would reward with a slap on the back. She managed to make Gords look like the coolest boy in school, and in polito-wife circles there's no greater achievement...
