Movie or no movie, when the Sex and the City TV series finished it left a CarrieMirandaSamantha'n'Charlotte-shaped hole in our lives that we've never really been able to fill. So, tonight is an important night. At 10pm Living TV will screen Lipstick Jungle - a TV show that has variously been described as ‘the new SATC' (yay!) and, er, ‘a poor man's SATC' (boo!) - for the first time in the UK. The SATC comparisons are inevitable, given that the show is based on a Candace Bushnell novel, takes place in New York and features a trio of attractive female friends - a movie exec, magazine editor and fashion designer - shopping, working and talking about relationships. But having seen the first three episodes we don't think the two shows are actually that similar. Two of the Lipstick-wielding Manhattanites are hugely successful married women, so their storylines have more to do with power and work-life balance than shoes or cocktails. And whilst all three women look fantastic - there are some great Louboutins here and there - fashion doesn't take centre stage in the same way. We're not sure whether we'll ever care as passionately about these three as we did about Carrie et al, but one thing's certain: there's bound to be a water cooler moment or two tomorrow morning. So don't forget to check back then and tell us what you think! Or watch the trailer and let us know your initial thoughts below.
