On Friday we speculated how Russell Brand would fare at presenting the VMAs, given his anarchic sense of humour isn't everyone's cup of tea. Well, the verdict's in - and it's just as we expected. The loveable louche's near-knuckle and un-PC jokes appeared to rankle a lot of the audience, particularly when he described President George Bush as ‘that retarded cowboy fellow'. Russell was also berated on stage by singer Jordin Sparks when he had a go at her fellow pop stars, The Jonas Brothers, for being virgins and wearing purity rings. One blogger on EntertainmentWeekly.com described Russell as an ‘abomination'. Hmmm, not sure about you but we're secretly rather proud of Mr Brand. Long live British humour!
