The Women premieres in Los Angeles

LA's old-school leading ladies got glammed up for the premiere of new movie The Women last night. It's one of the autumn movies we're most excited about seeing, but the question we're asking this morning (after analysing the outfits of course) is, ‘Will the remake have done the original film justice?' Didn't know there was an earlier version? Here's the low-down: before Meg Ryan, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett Smith, Annette Bening and Bette Midler signed up for The Women 2008 (or Now That's What I Call A Chick Flick, as we're dubbing it) - a super-witty comedy about one lady finding out her 'perfect' husband's having an affair and her girlfriends' reaction to it - there was a 1939 version which was rather fab. And kind of revolutionary for its day in that the entire cast was female (there are no men anywhere in the film - producers even made sure that the pets and portraits on the characters' walls were ladies). With a soggy weekend ahead, we reckon you should hunt down a copy because a) it stars the scene-stealing Joan Crawford b) the clothes are to die for (it was filmed in black and white but there's a 10-minute fashion parade in colour - LOVE it!) and c) despite all that, controversially, The Women won no Oscar nominations - not that Hollywood was sexist back then or anything... So are you excited about the remake? Or worried it'll be a wash-out? Watch these trailers and let us know below.
