Watch The Duchess trailer here

So everyone's buzzing about The Duchess, which premieres in London tonight. Well we saw the film last month and loved it. It ticks all the costume drama boxes - Beautiful, repressed heroine? Check. Stunning costumes? Check. Gorgeous aristocratic locations? Check. Yet it still manages to be far from formulaic. In fact we think it's a cut above the standard bonnets'n'ringlets fare. Based on the real life of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, a famous society beauty embroiled in a love triangle involving her horrible husband (played by Ralph Fiennes) and her supposed best friend (Hayley Attwell), it's moving, violent and quite saucy. And while we all know that Keira Knightley can rock a corset (she's had plenty of practice), her fiery, impassioned performance in this film is quite unlike anything you've ever seen her deliver before. Well that's our opinion, anyway. What do you reckon?
