Her 2004 novel Small Island won almost every major book award and made Andrea Levy a household name. The story of two Jamaican immigrants settling in Britain, inspired by her own parents experience, became one of the modern must-read books. So writing her next novel can’t have been tough, can it? At the next Grazia Book Club Andrea Levy will talk about writing The Long Song, a tale of a young slave girl on the Jamaican plantations, for which she had to explore the often-hard-to-confront issue of slavery and racism.
So come along to Waterstone's to enjoy a glass of champagne whilst you meet one of Britain’s most successful female authors. The event takes place on Thursday 17 February at 7pm at Waterstone’s, 68-69 Hampstead High Street, London, NW3 1QP. To book tickets (£3, redeemable against purchase of The Long Song on the night) call 020 7794 1098.
