If you've been anywhere near Grazia Daily you'll know that last night was the British Fashion Awards where Victoria Beckham was one of the big winners of the night going home with the highly prestigious Brand of the Year Award. Victoria, who wore a black jumper and a white pleated skirt with gold chain detailing (both by VB), hit the BFAs with her husband David.

We spoke to Victoria moments after her win, to find out what it means to be named Brand of The Year and why she loves living in London. "I had a dream many years ago and I focused and I worked hard and believed in myself." She added: "It's about working hard and doing what feels right. I'm not trying to be anyone else! I'm trying to be the best version of myself and I want to empower women and make women feel good."

She said with a smile: "If I can do this (pointing to her award), you can do this. Who would have thought? If anybody can be inspired by what I have achieved and what I do then that's great."

Victoria was emotional during her acceptance speech when mentioning her family: "David you inspire me every day, you support me, you make this possible. I adore you and our children." She added: "Lastly to my mum and Dad, thank you for coming tonight. You love me unconditionally and I'm a pain in the bottom, I really can be. Thank you."

"It was really emotional because I just wasn't expecting it," Victoria told Grazia Daily. "Everybody that got up had notes so I'm thinking ok, no one told me to make notes, it's just great to be included."

The BFAs was on the same day as World AIDS Day, a cause close to Victoria's heart. She said to Grazia of her charity work and role with the UN: "It's hugely important. Actually it's Anna Wintour who said to me a year ago, 'why don't you go to Africa?' I had been telling her I wanted to get involved and didn't know how to do it. She said: 'My team are leaving in two weeks. Go to Africa.' And I did. When I was in Africa I was beyond inspired by the children and women that I met. I just said to Anna I owe that all to her and I'm still learning about what I can do to make a difference. When Anna said in her speech tonight 'we have a responsibility', we do have a responsibility and I'm going to do everything I can do, whatever that is."

There was a lot of chatter on the red carpet last night about why it's so great to be British. Victoria said: "It's a creative place to live - I live in London which is multicultural, fun and there's an incredible energy here. I feel very, very lucky to be here, I wasn't expecting this this evening."
