Natural beauty at its best - soft taupe eyes and a sheer lipgloss mean the real showstopper here are those earrings!

Matching a messy half do with a gorgeous smokey eye while rocking an entire ear of diamond studs - that's how to add edge to the red carpet!

Sofia oozes sex appeal by matching hot red lips with her dress, while sleek hair and a bronze smokey eye keep the look fresh.

Just gorgeous! A seriously modern take on a red carpet updo compliments Lupita's simple but pretty make-up.

Julia Roberts

We love Julia's newly copper hair - it's almost a throwback to those Pretty Woman days. This look is all about androgyny though with killer amount of black eyeliner and a plunging neckline keeping things fresh.

An orangey red lip and mascara free lashes is a seriously fashion forward statement from the Gone Girl star.

Doing what she does best - Jen rocks her favourite combo of golden locks and bronze make-up. Well if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Yes Kelly! We'd expect nothing less than a punky purple quiff and clashing magenta lip from this rock-and-roll princess. Check out those incredible eyelashes too!

Red lips, black liner, sleek pony tail? Check, check, check! Reese gives us a first class lesson in how to do understated Hollywood glamour.

Lorelai Linklater

We love a red carpet risk and this bold blue pony certainly ticks that box. Pairing it with a heavy brow and bright lip gives Lorelai extra style points.

An edgy asymmetric hair style brings pretty make-up bang on trend.

We love awards season. It’s basically a very glamorous clinical trial. The stars of Hollywood are the guinea pigs, the red carpet is the laboratory, and the make-up artists and hair stylists are the scientific geniuses working behind the scenes. New make-up looks are trialled and tested, rated by very important people (journalists and bloggers), and then embraced or not by the rest of us. Luckily at last night’s SAG awards there was a bit of a departure from the usual Hollywood glam with celebs trialling a more relaxed approach – all the easier for us to try out at home!

Everyone from Felicity Jones to winner on the night Julianne Moore were embracing a more natural look than seasons past. Nude lips and subtle beige hued smokey eyes were the look of choice and fresh dewy skin was opted for over Kardashian style Kontouring.

It wasn’t all about the nudes though. A red carpet event isn’t worth its weight in trophy gold without a smattering of classic Hollywood glamour served up by means of a bold red lip. A-listers including Maggie Gyllenhall, Rosamund Pike and Sofia Vergara know the allure of a red pout and were all scarlet women on the night.

What better place is there to show off and be a beauty peacock other than the red carpet? Thankfully Kelly Osbourne embraced this sentiment and well and truly rocked a purple quiff – although we love it maybe this is one we won’t be trialling at home!

Earrings were the accoutrement de jour and everyone from Reese to Lupita were showing off their ear candy. Emma Stone and Keira Knightley were doing it for the cuff brigade making the edgy ear accessory seriously glam with their diamond offerings.
