Now that London Fashion Week is over, the Grazia girls have a new event to look forward to… the Grazia/Nike+ female-only fun run.
On Saturday 24th October, the whole of the Grazia office – plus 5,000 of you lovely Grazia readers – will be swapping their heels for trainers and running 10km around London’s Victoria Park. Sign up now and you’ll get a fabulous Grazia/Nike goodie bag which includes this free Nike t-shirt.
With just under a month to go, you still have plenty of time to sign up and train – even if you haven’t run since school (like half the Grazia office). Jane Wake, Nike’s running expert, has devised a special race countdown plan (below), so sign up here today and we’ll see you on race day!
Jane’s guide to getting race-ready:
3 weeks to go:
If you’re a new runner, don’t worry as you still have plenty of time to prepare yourself for the race. Start ‘run/walking’ this week. This involves walking for one or two minutes, then running for 30 seconds, then walking again, and so on. With three weeks to, you should be aiming to do this three times a week for 20 to 30 minutes a time. And remember – you don’t have to get round the course in record time, it’s about having a brilliant day out with the Grazia team and getting a bit fit at the same time.
If you’ve already started training for this run, by now you should be ‘run/walking’ – or even running – for at least 45 minutes three times a week. It doesn’t matter what days you run (this applies to new runners too) but make sure you have a day off in between runs to give your muscles a chance to recover.
Log on next week for your 2-weeks-to-go plan, and see you on the 24th!
