While we type this, there's a few centimetres of snow neatly assembling on the pavement, and our heating is cranked up to the max. Does that stop us fawning over Gigi Hadid and her total beach-babe beauty in the new Seafolly campaign? Hell no. In fact, it probably makes it more ardent. The quintessential surfer girl, (and new global face of Maybelline) Gigi looks tanned, healthy and seriously sultry with her tousled hair and radiant glow in the campaign for the Australian swimwear brand.

While a deep tan and natural sunkissed highlights might not be believable this time of year, there's other ways to inject a little Cali-cool into your look. Fashion's current love affair with wet-look hair has been well-documented, from Rihanna's slicked-back locks in the 'FourFiveSeconds' video to the oiled-up models at the Spring/Summer '15 Fashion Week shows, but Gigi's fresh-out-the-sea hair is arguably a more wearable take on the trend.

Instead of gel, saturate your hair with salt and shine sprays in the lengths and roots respectively to get a textured, gritty 'do that looks natural and undone. We rate Oribe's Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray (£34.00) scrunched into damp hair, and L'Oreal Professionnel's Tecni.Art Wet Domination Shower Shine Spray, (£13.99) for high impact gloss.

Keep it piecey and textured - you ideally want matte ends where the salt from the sea would have created natural texture, but more of a glistening effect in the lengths for a believably wet look. Use the shine spray sparingly, and gradually build up your beachy 'do. Finally, we can't bring you a natural tan, but we can give you the next best thing. A 10p-sized dollop of James Read's Sleep Mask Tan, (£25.00) applied to the face and neck before bed gives an even, natural-looking radiance to beat off the winter blues. And there you have it - now all you need is a one way ticket to the Maldives.
