1. The New Colour Rule

This is your complete new-season lipstick wardrobe. Launching in February, Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick, [a target="_blank" href="">£24[/a] (available in 20 shades), commands you to forget everything you thought you knew about high pigment signalling a low-shine finish. With finer pigments plus a hi-tech blend of hyaluronic acid to plump lips and bond colour for longer, you only need one slick for six hours of true colour wear.

2. The Face

We’re had Skandi skin envy, tried to emulate Joan Smalls’ Puerto Rican perfection, and now the face we all want to imitate is Estonian cool girl Elisabeth Erm. Having walked at 63 shows back in September for the SS14 collections, she has a healthy glow that’s top of every beauty editor’s 2014 wish list.

3. Tech Couture Hair

The most prolific hair moulding was at Haider Ackermann, where Wella’s global creative director Eugene Souleiman swept models’ hair into a sleek and graphic sports shape- a not-to-be ignored trend for 2014. Describing it as ‘elegant masculinity fused with softer, feminine elements’, it’s a nod to the super-shiny, sleek finish we’ll all be after.

4. Hyper-Real Nails

Backstage, our nail-based suspicions were confirmed: the perfect nail returns for 2014. As manicurist Marianne Newman explains, ‘This nail is real but better, whatever the colour. It has an overly perfect shade, finish and shape.’ Try Serge Lutens Nail Lacquer in Faux-Semblant, [a target="_blank" href="">£40[/a] and Topshop Nail Paint in Dress Up, [a target="_blank" href="">£6[/a].

5. Complexion Perfection

While Elizabeth Arden has long been known for its signature scent and Eight Hour Cream, it’s make-up has remained quietly under the radar. Until now. Launching this month, Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude Foundation, £28, is a face-changing foundation with a skin-perfecting finish and real complexion benefits that will win over even the most ardent of foundation haters. The 20 shades contain soy lipid technology, which reduces the size of pores by 20% over 4 weeks, as well as wild mushroom extracts and vitamins C and E- all masterminds in protecting skin from environmental stress.

6. The Anti-Cut

You read it here first girls- the anti-cut is going to be big beauty news in 2014. Grown out, relaxed layers- think Kate Moss- were a key catwalk trend, signalling the move into a more carefree spring. At Balmain, hair guru Sam McKnight described the loose, face-framing layers as ‘the ultimate undone and unembellished hair’. It’s time to bring back a bit of beach chic.

7. Bottle It

Have you found your secret potion yet? This is the year of the saviour supplement in a bottle. Our newest find is Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum, [a target="_blank" href="">£29.99[/a], which is proven to activate your follicles into a growth spurt in as little as 8 days. Longer term, it’ll boost hair density by 13% in 4 months, which the brand’s hair boffins have told us is on average 13,000 more hairs!

8. Blur-Fection

Maybelline NY Baby Skin, [a target="_blank" href="">£7.99[/a], gives you a baby-soft, poreless complexion, while Benefit The POREfessional Agent Zero Shine, [a target="_blank" href="">£23.50[/a], is a skin-blurring loose powder that eliminates shine. And don’t neglect your lips. Rimmel Moisture Renew Clear Lip Liner, [a target="_blank" href="">£3.99[/a], fills in lines as well as keeping lippy in place.

9. High-Altitude Ingredients

Labs weren’t enough for the La Prairie team, who looked to the Alps for their research. Containing snow algae and two other unique plants to create a youth-preserving (we’re sold!) complex, the Ice Crystal Dry Oil, £210, helps preserve stem cells and strengthens skin’s defence. Expect to see more ground breaking beauty science from the glaciers this season.

10. Front-Row Cleansers

Your most trusted bathroom buddy has had a complete refurb as cleansers take centre-stage in your skincare routine. High-active concentrates, more skincare (not just cleansing) benefits and longer-lasting effects. Some of our newest faves include Urban Retreat The Cleanser, £20 and Clarins Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream, [a target="_blank" href="$$ja=cgid:9968263534|tsid:35948|cid:180568654|lid:43541976077|nw:g|crid:35402878294|rnd:13353223942032183926|dvc:c|adp:1o1&gclid=CKbquffB7rsCFWnjwgodmzEAYA">£25[/a].

11. Breakthrough Brand

Every now and then, team Grazia meets a woman who makes us all go wow. Su-Man, a word-class facialist, is one of those women, listing Anne Hathaway and Freida Pinto as just the tip of her client iceberg. For years, people have travelled the world to have her facials and now, finally, are four years of development, she’s launched her own product range. From [a target="_blank" href="">£40[/a].

13. Your 2014 Scents

Thought seeing in the New Year with a new scent was clichéd? Not quite. Research has long suggested that scents affect the way you act and how others act around you. Here are 2014’s hottest mood makers- try the musky notes of Valentino Valentina Oud Assoluto, [a target="_blank" href="">£90[/a]; to feel balanced, envelop yourself in a zesty mix of Balenciaga Rosabotanica, £53; and if you want to feel powerful, opt for the commanding woodiness of Terry de Gunzberg Bleu Paradis, £105.

14. Walk The White Line

Put down the black kohl. Sleek, modern white lines were celebrated at Kenzo, where make-up artist Aaron De May produced a relaxed white line to ‘recreate the crest of a wave’. Just the sort of beauty we’re hankering after post-Christmas excess. Try Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Intense Eye Liner + Brightener in Carbon Cleopatra, [a target="_blank" href="">£5.9[/a]9.

With a new year ahead of us, team Grazia beauty simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to pull together our edit of the 14 (yes, you know, 2014 and all that) most anticipated trends, products and wonder ingredients to hit the shelves this year. We can tell you now ladies- it’s going to be a BIG beauty year. Click through the gallery above and take note, girls!
