1. The New Colour Rule

This is your complete new-season lipstick wardrobe. 2. The Face

We’re had Skandi skin envy, tried to emulate Joan Smalls’ Puerto Rican perfection, and now the face we all want to imitate is Estonian cool girl Elisabeth Erm. Having walked at 63 shows back in September for the SS14 collections, she has a healthy glow that’s top of every beauty editor’s 2014 wish list.

3. Tech Couture Hair

The most prolific hair moulding was at Haider Ackermann, where Wella’s global creative director Eugene Souleiman swept models’ hair into a sleek and graphic sports shape- a not-to-be ignored trend for 2014. Describing it as ‘elegant masculinity fused with softer, feminine elements’, it’s a nod to the super-shiny, sleek finish we’ll all be after.

4. Hyper-Real Nails

Backstage, our nail-based suspicions were confirmed: the perfect nail returns for 2014. As manicurist Marianne Newman explains, ‘This nail is real but better, whatever the colour. 5. Complexion Perfection

While Elizabeth Arden has long been known for its signature scent and Eight Hour Cream, it’s make-up has remained quietly under the radar. Until now. Launching this month, Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude Foundation, £28, is a face-changing foundation with a skin-perfecting finish and real complexion benefits that will win over even the most ardent of foundation haters. The 20 shades contain soy lipid technology, which reduces the size of pores by 20% over 4 weeks, as well as wild mushroom extracts and vitamins C and E- all masterminds in protecting skin from environmental stress.

6. The Anti-Cut

You read it here first girls- the anti-cut is going to be big beauty news in 2014. Grown out, relaxed layers- think Kate Moss- were a key catwalk trend, signalling the move into a more carefree spring. At Balmain, hair guru Sam McKnight described the loose, face-framing layers as ‘the ultimate undone and unembellished hair’. It’s time to bring back a bit of beach chic.

Have you found your secret potion yet? This is the year of the saviour supplement in a bottle. 9. High-Altitude Ingredients

Labs weren’t enough for the La Prairie team, who looked to the Alps for their research. Containing snow algae and two other unique plants to create a youth-preserving (we’re sold!) complex, the Ice Crystal Dry Oil, £210, helps preserve stem cells and strengthens skin’s defence. Expect to see more ground breaking beauty science from the glaciers this season.

13. Your 2014 Scents

14. Walk The White Line

Put down the black kohl. Sleek, modern white lines were celebrated at Kenzo, where make-up artist Aaron De May produced a relaxed white line to ‘recreate the crest of a wave’. Just the sort of beauty we’re hankering after post-Christmas excess.
