The Model Workout: We Show You Gym-Bunny Beauty The Victoria's Secret Way

11 July 2013 by

We all sighed in admiration as the Victoria’s Secret girls hit the sparkling runway as the annual show aired at the end of last year and the supermodels made waves across the beauty world as they tweeted picture after picture of the lengths they went to achieve their thoroughbred looks. We were inspired to get our boxing gloves on and blend those juices right away. Well the girls were at it yet again on Wednesday as they mounted their spin bikes for the third Annual Supermodel Cycle at SoulCylcle in New York City.

Alessandra Ambrosio, Doetzen Kroes, Lindsay Ellingson, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Gracie Carvalho, and Magdalena Frackowiak arrived at the spinning studio fresh faced and ready to burn those cals. In true Victoria’s Secret fashion they finished as fresh-faced and fluster-free as when they had started. But how?! Here’s our guide to keeping your beauty-cool even through the toughest bikini-bod-winning gym session.

Magdalena Frackowiak swaps sweat for smiles at SoulCycle!

Take It Off…Take It All Off…

It really is tempting to hit the gym with a full face of makeup, particularly if your gym tends to attract some rather…erm...athletic men folk! But be wary. Your pores open as you exercise and sweat mingled with a good layer of foundation does not a happy complexion make. Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, £21.00 is the perfect addition to your gym bag. Simply smooth over your face and wash off with water to gently cleanse and remove cosmetics. Best of all, it's solid so there's zero danger of it leaking all over your kit.

BB Beautiful

If you are craving a little bit of coverage, opt for a very light blemish balm such as the Vichy Idélia BB Crème, £16.80 to even skin tone and brighten skin. Dot a little concealer over any areas that you fear becoming seriously red during your exertions. Steer clear of stick concealers as these can appear cakey against the rest of your skin as it starts to get more dewy (yes, we mean sweaty, but let’s be refined about it darling!). Instead opt for a liquid concealer such as BECCA Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer, £24.00, which blends to perfection and has serious staying power.

The Pump-It-Up Pout

All those cross trainer sessions and spinning classes can really take their toll on your lips if you don’t stay on top of your hydration. First things first, get sensible with your H20 intake. Take a big bottle of water in with you and sip throughout your session. No balm in the world will be able to keep your lips in top condition if you are not hydrating from within. To keep your lips looking plump and perky try Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer, £17.00, which at once nourishes and moisturises whilst adding a cheeky touch of colour.

Après Workout Must-Haves

You’ve worked hard, got your Andriana Lima on in the gym, your trainer has patted you on your back and sent you on your way. But before you head out of the changing room door, take a little time to help your skin recuperate. Spritzing on a veil of Caudalie Beauty Elixir, £28.80 is heavenly (a little tip, keep in the fridge at home for as long as possible to really up the bliss factor). It at once calms and nourishes helping your skin recover and re-hydrate, Victoria Beckham is an avid fan. Don’t forget your tootsies in this whole process either. They may be encased in the latest must-have training shoe, but they’re feeling the burn. Generously smooth over Aveda Foot Relief, £19.00 before popping on fresh clean socks and your feet will enjoy a mini pedi mask on your way home.

So there you have it, your very own guide to a beauty girl's workout. Does this count as discovering Victoria’s Secret? We think so.
