If us beauty ladies were to honour Kristen Stewart’s beauty look with an award (hey, it is awards season after all) then we reckon she’d win first prize for the best subversive-chic beauty. After all, with the whole smudged make-up thing, punk-esque cornrows and an impressive repertoire of dark-hued manicures, there’s no denying that K-Stew’s laid-back attitude to beauty (and fame) have won her the spot of red-carpet rebel- edgy, undone and a little bit mysterious.

So, us beauty ladies weren’t in the least bit surprised to read in a recent interview with The Cut that Kristen’s fuss-free beauty regime not only strives for the ultimate bed-head but also the bed-face. Yep, that’s right, K-Stew actually loves looking a little bit puffy, but in a good way. She said, “I'm always striving to get to the point where I look like I've woken up in the last hour. You know that look you get when you're fresh-faced? You're a little puffy but looking really good? That's what I like," she explained.

What’s more, Kristen also recently admitted that she never takes off her eyeliner or her mascara before bed because she loves the effect on her eyes the following day. She even said, “I think I’ve never really had clean eyes.” So, is this the secret to the ultimate A-list smudgy eye? Someone pass us the Bioderma please…

So, what else did we learn about K-Stew’s laid-back beauty regime?

1. She loves a gardenia-based fragrance

“My grandma had a big gardenia bush. And gardenias aren’t that common. When you find them, it’s always like, Oh, nice. And it’s my favourite flower now too, because of that.”

2. She loved her cornrows (and wants them back)

“I took those out literally yesterday… It’s comfortable and keeps my hair out of my face. And I liked the way it looked. But you need to re-do it once a week, or else it will start to look gross. They were fuzzy!”

3. She has a basic skincare routine

“I use Proactiv. It’s really good- I use their three-step system. I try to moisturize more than I ever had. Apparently, that’s good for you. That’s about it. I drink a lot of water. Like, if you don’t drink water, you look awful.”

4. She’s always mixing up her shampoo

“People give me a lot of shampoo and conditioner… (but) I don’t necessarily know what I’m using. I like Kerastase.”

5. …But she hates hotel shampoo

“Afterwards it feels bone dry.”
