Is This The Best Yoga Retreat Ever? Balearic-Based Formentera Yoga Sets Foot In Snowy Gstaad

04 March 2014 by

For the first time ever the Balearic-based Formentera Yoga have temporarily upped and left Ibiza, swapped sun for snow and taken themselves all of the way to Gstaad.  Yup now, high up in the Swiss Alps you can experience the famous Formentera six-day yoga retreats with a generous dose of ski and spa thrown in for good very measure.

Keen to know more? We thought so.  Based at the Michelin-starred Le Grand Bellevue Hotel in the town of Gstaad, the retreat is taught by best-selling author and Nike Yoga Brand ambassador Jacqueline Lysycia and involves two-hour specialised themed early morning yoga and meditation classes, followed by daily alkalising yoga-menu lunch. Yum.

Following the energising morning yoga sessions retreat attendees may fill their days with with slope, fireside, gym or spa time (though we must warn that the indecisive will be hard-pushed to choose between the immune-boosting Ottoman steam bath, salt grotto aromatherapy steam bath, light therapy Bio-saunas, heated waterbeds  and a very extensive host of treatments – it’s a hard life).

Come evening it’ll be time you check into another two hour exclusive yoga and somatic meditation to help stretch out weary muscles stretch out and unwind that mind.  Then tuck into a delicious biological vegetarian dinner from the Michelin starred hotel restaurant and maybe a cheeky cocktail or three before bedtime.

What better way to start spring? We can certainly see ourselves curled up on this sofa and sitting pretty in the omm-inducing spa. We'll see you there...

Prices start at, £1920 and include five nights of accommodation, all classes, brunch and dinner and spa entrance. Book at www.formenterayoga.com
