Cheryl Cole Matches Red Lipstick To Her Sunglasses: Would You?

Listen up ladies- summer might be over but that’s no reason to pack away your sunnies. Whilst most of us associate our trusty sunglasses with balmy summer days, it’s still super important to have yours to hand come winter when the sun’s rays can be equally as damaging despite freezing temperatures. In fact, the winter sun sits lower in the sky, and at a different angle which can be damaging to various layers of the eye. With research showing that UV rays can contribute to various eye diseases (such as cataracts) as well as being a serious factor in the ageing process, we reckon you shouldn’t be packing your sunnies away quite yet.

What’s more, Cheryl Cole was spotted this weekend living it up in Amsterdam sporting a rather awesome red lippie/sunglasses combo which we think every beauty aficionado should take serious note of. We reckon la Cole got this notoriously tricky beauty look spot-on- way to Chezza! But the question is- would you match your sunglasses to your lipstick? When worked well, the right lipstick and sunglasses duo can do wonders for a tired, pale, winter complexion, and your trusty specs will hide a multitude of sins to boot.

Want in? Just remember the golden rules and stick to matte textures (glossy frames and a shiny pout are a total no-no), remember that soft tortoiseshell and neutral hues add a slick of sophistication, and if it’s colour you’re after then take note from Chezza and Queen Bey and keep your shades on the darker side to balance out the brighter hues.

This really is one heck of an easy-peasy beauty look that will help you to sizzle your way into the new season. Click through our gallery for some do’s and don’ts and get ready to grab your sunnies. And your lippie, too.

DON'T: Think neutral frames are always the best bet

Neutral-coloured frames don't go well with a bare-faced look. Take note Helena Christensen...

DO: Invest in a pair of aviators

As Julianne Hough proves, the classic aviator looks great with a darker lip. Just add in a matching hat and you're good to go!

DO: Keep it rose-tinted

Trust Rosie H-W to get this look just perfect. We're just loving her cream, retro shades and rosy-pink lip tint. Keep the look soft and you're onto a winner.

DON'T: Think matching everything above your neck is a good idea...

Whilst a bit of colour is never a bad thing, stay clear of matching your hair, glasses and lips a la Kelly Osbourne. It's not a good look...

DO: Remember that patterns look great with a matte red lip

Keep things matte and you can't go wrong. As Beyonce proves here, a matte red pout looks absolutely stunning with a pair of tortoiseshell specs. Retro glam indeed.

DO: Keep it simple

If in doubt, take note from catwalk queen Miranda Kerr and stick to simple shades and a pretty pastel pout. Gorgeous!

DON'T: Go all gothic

Whilst the berry-lip is one hot look for AW, don't pair it with seriously dark sunglasses a la RiRi the effect is totally lost and is seriously OTT...

DO: Work it like Cheryl

We're totally besotted with Cheryl's combo seen this weekend. Ready to rock a colourful pout? Just keep your shades on the darker side to really balance things out.

DON'T: Keep things one-toned

Whilst Iggy Azalea's sunglasses are totally gorgeous, it's just all too matchy here. Red overboard...

DO: Blend Your Colours

Trust Olivia Palermo to pull off this coloured duo in absolute style. If you want to pull off a bold pair of shades, just keep things matte and neutral and you'll be bang on-trend.
