Beauty Bites: A Blonde Beyoncé Is More Recognisable PLUS Neom's New Candle

13 May 2013 by

Is it just us, or has the nation suddenly become obsessed with tanning, like, overnight? It all kicked off when Kate Moss was unveiled as the new face of St Tropez last week, jump-starting us all into realising that summer is finally around the corner and by golly, isn’t it high time we did something to expel the ghostly pallor lurking beneath our baggy black jumpers? The wonderful array of golden limbs seen walking down the red carpet at Sunday’s TV BAFTA Awards (hello, Millie Mackintosh and Sienna Miller) were further proof that the time has come to get your bronze on, big time. But what else has been happening in the world of beauty? Read on for the latest beauty bites...

Royal Apothic Unveils New Fragrance and Pop-Up Apothecary In Anthropologie

Here at Grazia Beauty we’ve always been big Anthropologie fans- their beauty offerings consistently get our number-one vote when it comes to quirky cosmetic brands and beautiful little luxuries. So, you can imagine our utter excitement when we heard that the uber-trendy, LA-based perfumer Royal Apothic would be unveiling a new fragrance alongside an apothecary pop-up in The Kings Road branch of Anthropologie.  The fragrance, named after the historic Antiquarius building in which the cult Chelsea store stands, has been created to commemorate the centenary of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It’s a lot to take in, we know, but one whiff of the zesty, jasmine and orange-blossom infused scent is a real olfactive delight. What’s more, Victoria Beckham recently tweeted that she was a huge fan of Royal Apothic, so we’re predicting big things for their UK launch. Watch this space, ladies.

Royal Apothic's Antiquarius Petal's range is available exclusively at www.anthropologie.eu. Prices start from £12

Josh Wood To Colour Marouane Fellaini Hair Silver

He may be one of the most in-demand colourists in the world, having worked his magic on the likes of Elle MacPherson, Kylie Minogue and Jemima Khan, but it now seems that Josh Wood is getting ready to mix things up- by dyeing Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini’s iconic dark ‘fro silver! To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Blues’ official charity, Everton In the Community, Fellaini has pledged to dye his famous afro silver if fans can reach a fundraising target of £25,000. A hair-raising challenge, we say. The footballer’s iconic haircut has been a huge hit with fans, with plenty of Fellaini-fro wigs on view on match days, so we wonder what fans will make of his new silver tresses...

Is Beyoncé More Recognisable As A Blonde Or Brunette?

Now, we are very confused indeed. She may be the Texan goddess we know and love, but according to a recent poll by Acemetrix, it seems that Beyoncé makes a bigger impression on consumers as a blonde than a brunette. Based on H&M’s new ads - one where she had blonde hair and one where she was a brunette - it seems people have more ease recognising her as a blonde. 16% of consumers recognised Beyoncé in the blonde shots, but only 7% were able to reference her when brunette. Now, what does this all mean? Maybe blondes do have more fun, after all…
