Roja Dove Rediscovers the Fragrance Of Jacobean England

In 1912, an incredible discovery was made deep underground in a cellar on London’s Cheapside- the city’s most exquisite stash of buried treasure. From dazzling Colombian emeralds to sparkling diamonds from India, the collection is made up of 500 unique pieces, and for the first time in 100 years is being exhibited at The Museum Of London. What’s more, to celebrate this momentous occasion, British Master Perfumer Roja Dove has been commissioned to recreate the fragrance of Jacobean London, inspired by the beautiful bejewelled scent bottle found in the Hoard. Perfume expert Roja says, “To capture the spirit of Early Stuart England, it is essential to understand the tastes and attitudes towards perfume at this time. The only two scented floral materials indigenous to Britain were – and still are – lavender and rose, which were often joined with oils from various herbs.” So, what can we expect from Roja’s 17th century fragrance? We reckon it’ll be a heady combination of lavender, frankincense, civet alongside other opulent notes. The scent won’t be available to buy, so hurry on down to the museum this October and get ready to go back in time, ladies…

Kenzo Presents The FlowerWave

This might not come as a surprise, but when it comes to flowers, us beauty ladies are seriously obsessed. Whether it’s a fresh bouquet of roses (we’d be lucky!) or a gorgeous floral fragrance, we’re sold on the first whiff. So, we were over the moon to hear that Kenzo have launched a clever little floral-based app on Facebook in support of Every Mother Counts, the charity established by former supermodel Christy Turlington Burns. Called ‘Flower Wave’, the app aims to spread the word about the work the charity does to make pregnancy and childbirth safer for all mothers. So what exactly is the app, you ask? Users simply submit a short video of themselves passing along a poppy, which is then added to the Flower Wave film (which already features a few celebs). For each clip received, Kenzo donates $1 to the charity. Not in the mood to make a video? Fear not, as users can also send a virtual poppy to friends on Facebook, only to watch the poppies blooming on an imbedded world map. We’re in flower heaven…

Nails Inc and Colgate Join Forces

Just when you thought toothpaste was the least glamorous thing on your shopping list, think again, ladies, as we’ve got some rather exciting news for you. To celebrate the launch of new Colgate Max White One toothpaste, £3.99, Colgate have teamed up with nail experts Nails Inc to create a gorgeous red varnish in both gloss and metallic, free with the purchase of every tube of toothpaste from Boots nationwide from 2nd September, while stock lasts. There’s something about this collaboration which has got us Grazia ladies rather excited- whether it’s the wave of retro nostalgia or the simple fact of being seriously one of a kind, we just cannot wait to get our hands on a bottle of the red stuff!

Burberry’s Trench Kisses Collection

When Burberry unveiled their Summer Splash collection at the beginning of this month we were beyond excited to restock our make-up bags for our summer hols, and breaking news reaching Grazia HQ now informs us that a new collection is set to launch next week, which is pretty perfect timing for our A/W beauty stash! The new range, which was introduced at the Burberry Prorsum A/W 2013 shows focuses on a fresh golden nude complexion, referencing the golden detailing seen throughout the ready-to-wear and accessories collections. Iris Prima- The Scent Of The Ballet

Now that you’re sporting a winning ballerina bun it only makes sense that you smell like a ballerina too, right? All hail Penhaligon’s latest olfactory offering- Iris Prima, the official scent of a true prima ballerina. In a unique partnership with the English National Ballet, Penhaligon’s has set about capturing the very essence of the ballet, with no other than perfumer Alberto Morillas as choreographer. To fully immerse himself in the artistic world of the ballet, Morillas was granted exclusive backstage access to the renowned ballet company and spent months in theatre wings and rehearsal studios to capture the perfect scent. The result is a gorgeously feminine blend of bergamot, iris absolute, jasmine and vetiver.  What’s more, we’re loving the glass bottle, complete with a suede embossed label and leather print box meant to reference the dancers’ ballet shoes.
