Since it was first launched back in 1921, Chanel No.5 has acquired a cult status the world over. Over the years, the likes of Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tatou and even Brad Pitt have all fronted campaigns for the fragrance. However, beauty giants Chanel have just confirmed they will be resurrecting 50s goddess Marilyn Monroe as the star in their latest campaign, 51 years after her death.
New print and television campaigns, due to launch in December, focus on the Hollywood starlet’s famous declaration that she wore nothing in bed apart from a spritz of Chanel’s cult fragrance: “You know, they ask me questions. Just an example: ‘What do you wear to bed? A pyjama top? The bottoms of the pyjamas? A nightgown?' So I said: 'Chanel No.5', because it's the truth," said Monroe in the 1960 recording. "And yet, I don't want to say 'nude'. But it's the truth!"

The new campaign will feature stunning black and white imagery of Marilyn herself holding a vintage glass bottle of Chanel No.5 close to her chest. However, this isn’t the starlet’s first foray into the beauty world of the 21st century. Last October, MAC released a range of Monroe-inspired make-up featuring 30 products in limited-edition colours which had us all in a red-lipped, kohl-eyed, Blonde Bombshell frenzy. It’s safe to say that team Grazia beauty are beyond excited about Chanel’s new collaboration and we just cannot wait to see the full campaign come December.
