Whether you’re packing for a holiday or just short of time in the morning, a product that works twice as hard is never a bad thing. Space in your suitcase is vital, and hotly contested, as we totally understand that you’re not sure if the beach bar vibe is going to be Coachella casual or LA glam, so you might as well pack an extra pair of huge wedges. So, in order to make the whole process a little easier, or save you some valuable snooze time, we’ve chosen some products that can help half your getting ready time AND the weight of your case. You’re welcome.
1. The super-speedy root touch up
No time or patience for the salon? No worries. Color Wow’s Root Touch Up (below right, £28.50, Space NK,) is a handy bit of kit, in a range of shades from the lightest blonde to the darkest black. The brush applicator will help you neatly apply the powder to your roots, concealing any re-growth, AND it doesn’t come off on pillows or in the rain. This’ll only budge when shampooed out.
2. The life-changing dry shampoo
Here at Grazia Daily, we’re dry shampoo aficionados. (Hey, it’s not good to wash your hair all the time, okay? Natural oils and all that…) So when we say Oribe’s Dry Texturising Spray (above left, £39.00, Space NK) is good, you know it’s really good. Gives oomph in the roots, and body in the lengths without any residue. Try it and be converted.
3. The one minute brow
If Cara’s brows came in a bottle, we’d buy two. Sadly, they don’t, so NARS Brow Perfector (£16.50, www.narscosmetics.co.uk) will have to do instead. A super-blendable propeller pencil, this fills in brows quickly and evenly without leaving any hard lines.
4. The flash facial
You know when your skin’s really feeling the effects of that late night, but you’ve kind of no time to do anything about it? No fear. Biore's new Self Heating One Minute Mask (£7.99 for a pack of four, Boots, below left) has charcoal to help mop up excess oil and cooling menthol to help soothe the skin. Perfect for stop a bothersome breakout in its tracks.
5. The actually gentle facial wipe
Face wipes are so handy, but can often leave skin feeling tight and sore. This offering from Neal’s Yard, the Organic Facial Wipes (£5.50, www.nealsyardremedies.com, below top right), is a great bet for sensitive skin. With cooling aloe vera and antioxidant white tea, these will have your make up off and your skin soothed in no time.
6. The eye de-puffer
Eyes are the first place to show tiredness. Combat stress with Skyn Iceland’s Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels (£25.00, M&S Your Beauty, above bottom left), which have hydrolyzed elastin to help restore tone and firmness to tired eyes, and gingko billoba leaf extract to help reduce puffiness. Simply slap on, leave for ten minutes and peel off to reveal more awake-looking peepers.
7. The cheek and lip multi-tasker
Make-up applying women of the morning commute, we salute you. And we’re making your lives a little bit easier with the introduction of the YSL Baby Doll Kiss and Blush (£27.00, counters nationwide), a cheek and lip tint that actually looks great on both. Soft, pretty colour on the lips and tonally matching on the cheeks – what could be easier?
8. The spray-on leg foundation
Have you ever watched ‘Dancing on Ice’ and thought to yourself, ‘Forget the fancy footwork, I wish I had those glowing pins’? Well, wish no more, because the actual product used for their gorgeous gams is Art Deco’s Spray Leg Foundation (£15.00, www.beautybay.com). This will do for your legs what foundation does to your face; smooth the skin, blur imperfections and give your some colour. Perfect for last-minute party plans.
9. The ultra primer
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (above left, counters nationwide, £29.00) is a cult classic for a reason. Helping to boost radiance and tighten the skin, the balm also contains Witch Hazel to smooth lines and wrinkles. Plus, it moisturises too, so that’s one less product you have to pack. This is the ultimate pick-me-up for tired skin before make up.
10. The long-lasting lip colour
The problem with matte lipsticks is despite the colour longevity, they can be a little drying. Enter the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains (£7.99, Boots); the pigment of matte, the finish of gloss, and the moisture of lip cream. So you’ll have super-shiny, non-sticky, totally kissable lips. Oh, and there’s over 10 shades. Sold!
