2013 EE BAFTA Awards: Top 10 Beauty Trends From Slicked Back Hair To Porcelain Skin

Last night we were glued to the television watching the epic EE BAFTA Awards 2013. From the glamourous dresses to the sparkling diamonds, we loved it all. Now we've already selected our favourite fashion looks for you to peruse but we thought it t'would be rude not to showcase for you our top beauty looks as well, detailing the best hair and makeup trends to come off the red carpet...

1. Big Up-Dos

If there's one place that a voluminous up-do feels at home it's on the red carpet and last night it was Alice Eve and Amy Adams who stole the show with their beautiful and ultra-glam hair looks. Alice's was done by none other than Charles Worthington himself both girls were the first to catch our eye on the hair front.

2. Hot Red Lips

A red lip is a bold and punchy statement which is the perfect way to compliment a big red carpet ball gown. Our two faves were Marion Cotillard and Thandie Newton because they are textbook perfect and just the right shade to suit their faces. Marion has chosen a shade with an orange pigment to it whilst Thandie's has undertones of blue to compliment her darker skin tone.

3. Centre Stage

Whilst most women went for a side-parting last night, we really loved what Jennifer Garner and Annabelle Wallis did with their hair by styling it into a firm centre-parting. This look is much more casual than the up-do's of Alice Eve and Amy Adams and suits every face shape. It also allows the hair to fall around the sides of the face in a relaxed and pretty way, offsetting the glamour of the actresses' formal outfits.

4. Smokey Eyes

A sultry, smokey eye is always a winner and the two who won the prize for this category were ahnds-down SJP and Emilia Fox. SJP went for a grey and black number which works well on blue and green eyes, whilst Emilia wowed with a soft bronze eye to match her own hazel-hued pupils. Whatever colour you go for, this look works on literally everyone and is a great way to frame the eyes. We love!

5. Slicked Back Hair

One of the more modern and fresh hair looks we spotted was on Alicia Vikander and Jennifer Lawrence who both debuted the slicked back hair trend. Normally one we see on the runway but people are too scared to do at home, the girls show how amazing and different it looks and when done correctly, gives a young and fun yet also sophisticated look.

6. Peachy Cheeks

Now this is a trend that you'll read more about in tomorrow's issue of Grazia but it's set to be huge for Spring. Last night we saw the look on both Gemma Arterton and Andrea Riseborough who both got it spot on. As you can see, a peach flushed cheek gives a healthy glow and avoids you looking too pink. It's a more subtle colour to go for and you can build it up gradually along the cheek contours to give a chiselled and beautiful skin finish.

7. Matte Lips

All hail the matte lip! Which FYI is a big SS13 trend you'll want to try. Laura Whitmore went for a classic red which was given a modern twist with it's matte finish whilst Anne Hathaway chose a pinky hued lip as the focal point of her makeup look. A matte lip is much more modern and young than anything too glossy and glitzy and there's a huge range of new matte lipsticks out this month for you to choose from. Just make sure your lip are well moisturised and chap-free before you apply.

8. Textured Hair

We love a bit of textured hair and were thrilled to see supermodel Laura Bailey and Rising Star winner Juno Temple do their own take on the trend. Laura went for a pulled back low-slung ponytail which was thick and textured in a cool and stylish way whilst Juno chose to go for perfectly set touseld waves for her red carpet look. The beauty of this is that you can use plenty of product to get the texture into the hair and thens et it with lots of hairspray so that it stays all night.

9. Porcelain Skin

It's the middle of Winter and a golden tan is just a mere memory now to us lot, so we took inspiration from the porcelain beauties that graced the BAFTA's last night. Stealing the show was Jessica Chastain and the littlest of the Olsen sisters, Elizabeth. They each had equally flawless faces and avoided any over-bronzing and contouring, instead keeping their look real and beautiful. Pale is the way to go girls...

10. Rogue Hair Looks

Now there are always a few people who go a bit rogue at these big red carpet events (Helen Mirren normally wins this crown) but last night we couldn't help but notice Helen Mirren's candy pink hair and Paloma Faith's figurative up-do. Rumour has it that Helen's was dyed pink for charity and actually we think she pulls it off pretty well as she has such a beautiful face. But as for Paloma's... well it sort of looks like a piled of spaghetti on her head. Fair play for being brave enough to pull this off.
