Many of our favourite stars have ditched the glitz and glamour in favour of a more laid-back, almost ‘scruffy’ beauty look and quite frankly, we love it. Why should we feel the need to dress up to the nines all the time when women are most attractive when they’re comfortable in their own skin and with their own unique style? Exactly.
This is not to say we’re on the verge of ditching the red lipstick and hair straighteners entirely, but we have noticed a trend for more natural beauty, with the big focus turning to looking strong and healthy. High heels have been swapped for trainers, leggings and baggy T-shirts and not just for trips to the gym.
Suki Waterhouse, Rihanna and Cara Delevingne sporting the 'shabby chic' look [Instagram]
Of course, one of the major poster girls for this look is Cara Delevingne. When the model first appeared on the scene, we couldn't get enough of her anti-perfection, ‘anti-model’ attitude. Since then we've seen the likes of Suki Waterhouse taking a more laid-back approach to dressing while Vanessa Hudgens, a true boho at heart, reportedly turned down photoshop for her recent Bongo shoot. Even Rihanna's been looking scruffier.
Yep, shabby chic is on the rise and we look forward to seeing who’s next to join the trend. Kim Kardashian? Hmm, perhaps not. Click through the gallery above to see more images of our favourite shabby chic looks...
