Slicked-back buns at Christian Dior
Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is well under way, which means only one thing to us beauty ladies- some seriously awesome beauty looks! Notorious for showcasing some of the most extravagant beauty trends, Couture Fashion Week brings together the true artistry of the fashion industry, and never fails to produce a dazzling array of stunning hair and make-up looks.
Catwalk queen Naomi Campbell opened the Atelier Versace show on Sunday, leading a parade of supermodels in her wake in what was her first appearance on a Versace catwalk since Gianni Versace’s death in 1997.
Over the past two days, some of our favourite A-listers joined the front rows to watch the likes of Christian Dior, Alexis Mabille and Iris Van Herpen showcase their latest couture looks. We’ve rounded up some of the hottest beauty looks from the shows, although stay tuned- there’s plenty more to come over the next few days…
Angelic blush at Alexis Mabille
Chez Mabille, it was all about a beautiful complexion and an angelic glow. With hair swept back off the face, cheekbones were highlighted in beautiful shades of pale pink, brows were groomed to perfection and lashings of black mascara topped off the doe-eyed youthful look.
Versace’s Luscious Lashes
Make-up maestro Pat McGrath was behind this stunning look, “based in lashes, with just a bit of smoke”. Topped off with groomed brows, and clean, pared down skin, this is a seriously striking look. Couture, indeed.
3D Lips at Christian Dior
Models over at Christian Dior were seen sporting wonderfully holographic lips. Raf Simons’ collection apparently took inspiration from four realms- Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa, with models from all over the globe on the catwalk. Well, we reckon these are some seriously tropical, Masai-inspired lips- with glitter to create depth and shine, this is a bold couture look that we just love.
Iris Van Herpen’s Metallic Eyes
It was all about a metallic glow over at Iris Van Herpen, where models sported silver eyes and skin so luminescent it was quasi ethereal.
Sleek Buns at Atelier Versace
As Redken creative consultant Guido Palau pointed out, “This hair is very different for Donatella, because her hair is always down.” Well, we reckon a mix-up is never a bad thing, and we can’t stop swooning over the punky, rock ‘n’ roll feeling of the models’ hair on the Atelier Versace catwalks. Palau called this look “Donatella’s chignon”- if that isn’t enough hair-spiration, we don’t know what is. To get the look yourself, arm yourself with Redken’s Thickening Lotion 06 Body Builder to add grip to hair before sweeping up into effortlessly chic knots.
