The 1940s beauty trend is back with a bang - just ask the Spring Summer 2014 catwalks. So what do you need to achieve the look? All you need is the backstage inspiration we've crammed into the gallery above.
Of course bright red lipstick and rose pink blusher is essential. Maria Grachvogel, Olympia le Tan and Alexis Mabille all nailed this look with blood red lipstick. For something a little subtler, we love the orangey red shade seen at DKNY and MSGM. A matte lipstick as seen at Altuzarra or a glossy red, like Moschino, are equally effective in channeling the World War II look. The matte effect can be created by simply dusting a touch of powder along the lips. The true 1940s woman also wore a rose pink blusher on the upper cheek bone near to the eye area. Look to the models at Alexis Mabille, Shiatzy Chen and Anna Sui for inspiration.
