Now, we’re all for a good beauty splurge, don’t get us wrong, but there’s something just a little bit wierd about the latest news from Hollywood- a fake fingernail worn by Lady Gaga has been auctioned off for the whopping sum of £8,500 ($13,000).
The black acrylic nail, designed by NY nail artist Aya Fukada features intricate gold embellishments and was worn by Lady-G at the launch of her Fame fragrance last September. However, it was the day after at her Born This Way Ball in Dublin, Ireland, when the nail supposedly came undone, only to be salvaged by a stage crew member soon after the songstress’ performance, later to be auctioned off for £8,500. Talk about nailing a sale!
The crew member said, “I noticed an object on the floor of the stage, which at first I thought was a guitar plectrum. When I picked it up, I saw it was an acrylic nail."
However, this isn’t the first time an enthusiastic Gaga fan has paid good money for a piece of the star. In 2010, a Russian billionaire reportedly paid a staggering $1 million (approximately £648,000) to feature alongside the Grammy Award winner in the music video for ‘Alejandro’.
The lucky buyer also received a photo of the singer onstage in Dublin showing her missing the nail in question.
Question is, would you spend this much on one nail? Check out our gallery of Lady Gaga’s best ever nail moments…
